PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne volleyball team made it two wins in a row Friday night as they shutout Saint Francis, Pa. 3-0 at the Palumbo Center.
Jessica Artman's game-high 14 kills led the Dukes to their 24th all-time win over the Red Flash in 25 attempts. Tricia Mullen recorded a game-best 14 digs while Chelsea Tillotson recorded a game-high 29 assists. Liz Homan led both squads with seven blocks.
Similar to their first match of the day, the Dukes came out on fire, winning nine of the first 12 points. Duquesne would continue their momentum as SFU could only get within five points the rest of the way. With DU leading 25-14, a Mullen kill gave the Dukes the first set.
Duquesne continued their domination into the second set as Amanda Humphrey led the Dukes on a 10-0 run to give DU a 15-4 lead. The Dukes never looked back taking the second set 25-16.
A 5-0 SFU run midway through the third set gave the Red Flash their largest lead of the set at 19-16. The Dukes fought back to tie the set at 20-20 before DU scored four straight points behind the serving of Humphrey. Artman's kill at match point gave DU their second victory of the invitational.
The Dukes will return to action Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. against Lehigh. They conclude the invitational at 7:00 p.m. against Loyola, Md.
