CAMDEN, N.J. - The Duquesne rowing team finished with 78 points to take fifth place at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Rowing Championship held on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J. The University of Rhode Island won the championship with 135 points.
The Dukes' Lightweight 8+ boat finished first with a time of 7:32.3 to earn 10 points.
The Varsity 8+ finished second in the petite final (7:40.6) for 12 points. The 2nd Varsity 8+ earned 15 points for their sixth place finish with a time of 8:00.8.
The Varsity 4+ finished in fifth place (12 points) crossing in 9:06.1.
The novice teams earned a total of 13 points with the 8+ getting eight points in the petite final (8:29.5) and the 2nd 8+ getting five with a time of 8:18.0.
The Lightweight 4+ finished in fourth place to get seven points (8:46.5) and the Quad's second place finish in the grand final (8:13.4) earned DU nine points.
The rowers continue their season May 4th at the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Championships in Fairfax, Va.
