PITTSBURGH - Mackenzie Creehan scored twice and the Duquesne defense held off a last second Temple scoring chance as the Dukes held off the Owls 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Rooney Field.
The game was scoreless until the 21st minute when Samantha Kaiser split the TU defense and found Creehan, whose shot went off the fingertips of Temple keeper Courtney Douglas giving DU a 1-0 lead.
Creehan scored the game's second goal on a shot from 30 yards out that was mishandled by Douglas in the 80th minute.
TU had its first scoring chance with less than 22 minutes remaining, but Christine Murawski was able to slide block an Alicia Yurkovic shot.
Temple got on the board on a Wendy Halina awarded a penalty shot in the 83rd minute after a foul in the box.
The visitors had one last chance to tie the contest with two seconds left, but could n not convert as the Dukes came away with the 2-1 victory.
Duquesne closes out the regular season Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. when they host St. Bonaventure.
