Duquesne's men's swimming team wrapped up the home portion of its schedule with a 139-122 triumph over Atlantic 10 foe Xavier. The Dukes, in a total team effort, won 10 of 14 races, including three each by freshmen Edward LeBlanc and Jim O'Hara.
Xavier jumped out to a 63-48 lead after six events, before the Red and Blue swept first, second and third place in the 50-yard freestyle to cut the deficit to 66-64 led by sophomore Brendan Schilling who captured first place in 22.25. The Dukes went on to win the next four races to claim a 109-97 lead and never looked back.
LeBlanc had a hand in two Towers Pool records on the final two races of the day as he won the 400 IM in 4:08.21 and joined O'Hara, Schilling and senior Ian Walsh in winning the 400 freestyle relay in 3:11.82.
LeBlanc also won the 1,000 freestyle in 9:53.94 and the 200 backstroke in 1:52.86. O'Hara's wins came in the 100 free (48.30), the 200 free (1:44.64) and the 500 free (4:48.80).
Sophomore Ian P. Walsh won the 100 breaststroke in 59.09 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:11.68.
The Red and Blue return to the water on Saturday, Jan, 26 as they travel to La Salle for a noon meet.
