BOWLING GREEN, OHIO - The Dukes completed the 2007 Best Western Invitational with a 3-0 over Big East Conference opponent De Paul Saturday night.
With the first game tied at 22-22, a pair of kills by Jessica Artman and Lindsay Hess put DU a 24-22 advantage. The Blue Demons got within one at 28-27, but a pair of errors have Duquesne the game 30-27.
In the second game, DU was trailing 14-13 before scoring eight consecutive points behind the serving of Lindsay Hess to take a 21-13 lead. The Dukes would maintain the lead and take game two 30-20.
The third game was played tight until the end. It featured 12 ties as it took the Dukes to some extra time to secure the victory 34-32 and the match 3-0.
Duquesne had a good match, hitting .342, including a match-high .366 in the third game. Nicole Wright had 15 kills while hitting .414. Lindsay Hess and Jessica Artman had 12 and 11 kills respectively while Amy Palko led DU with 13 digs and Hess and Wright added 12 digs.
The Dukes (7-6) will being their Atlantic 10 schedule this weekend facing Xavier Friday night and Dayton Saturday afternoon.
