Duquesne University will host the 2007 NCAA Division I Wrestling East Regional Championship this Sunday, March 4 at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
Wrestlers from Duquesne, Delaware State, Gardner-Webb, Liberty and Millersville will compete as individuals to qualify for the NCAA Championship to be held in Auburn Hills, MI March 15-17. One wrestler will qualify from each of ten weight classes with one wild card being selected as well. There will be team scoring, but the team champion will not qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Duquesne last hosted this event in 2005 and won the team championship, sending four wrestlers to the NCAA Championship. The Dukes are four-time East Region champions.
The first session, which will include up to 40 matches on two mats will begin at 11:00 am. Session two, which will include the 10 consolation matches and 10 championship matches on two mats will begin at 4:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Gate A box office on the day of the event.
