The Duquesne University men's swimming team made history on Saturday, finishing an all-time best third at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championship. The previous highest finish was last season when the Dukes placed fifth.

Sophomore Chris Kobela and senior Ed Wicker each captured second place finishes for the Dukes while seniors Scott Darwin and Eric Bugby managed third place showings and also set school records.

Kobela set a school record in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:55.41, beating his school record from last year's A-10's by over 11 seconds. He also beat his own school record in the 1,000 freestyle during the 1,650 with a 9:33.75.

Wicker's second place finish came in the 100-yard freestyle, swimming a 45.93 while junior Ian Walsh placed fifth in 46.54.

Darwin placed third in the 200 backstroke with a school record time of 1:49.53, beating his old record set at the 2005 A-10 Championship.

Bugby finished third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:51.93. His school record however came earlier in the day when he swam a 1:51.88 at the preliminary session.

Also turning in a top eight performance was freshman Ian P. Walsh who placed seventh in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:09.11.

The Red and Blue capped off their magical season by winning the last event of the day, the 400 freestyle relay in a school record time of 3:02.15. Teaming up to win the event were Bugby, Darwin, Walsh (Jr) and Wicker.
