Dukes Split a Pair of Home Duals

Duquesne's wrestling team split a pair of home dual matches Saturday morning at the Palumbo Center. The Dukes defeated Wagner, 48-3 and fell to Eastern Michigan, 30-12.

Seniors Brad Cipriani and Jared Ricotta, sophomore Scott Black and freshmen Brett Skonieczny and James Sellers went perfect on the day.

Cipriani earned a 6-2 victory at 133 pounds versus Eastern Michigan and won by forfeit in the Wagner match. He improved his overall record to 31-8, becoming just the 12th wrestler in Duquesne history to register 30 wins in a season.

Ricotta sat out the Wagner match and fought to a 6-5 triumph at 184 pounds versus Eastern Michigan to improve his record to 25-10. Black did not wrestle versus Eastern Michigan, but captured a win by fall in 2:03 at 184 pounds versus Wagner. Sellers won 3-2 at heavyweight against Wagner while newcomer Skonieczny won two macthes at 125 pounds by forfeit.

The Dukes return to the mat on Friday, Feb. 16 as they host Campbell at 7:00.
