DU Splits a Pair of A-10 Decisions

The Duquesne University women's swimming team split a pair of Atlantic 10 decisions on Saturday afternoon, topping Rhode Island, 138-98 and falling to host Fordham, 143-79 in the Bronx.

Freshman Erin Sykes continued her dominance of the distance events, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle in a school-record time of 10:23.34 and taking the 500 free in 5:03.64.

Senior Melissa Johnson also had her way with the competition in the 100 and 200 freestyles, taking the shorter distance in 52.62 and winning the longer in a school-record time of 1:51.67.

The Dukes will take a week off during Thanksgiving break and will return to action on Nov. 30 as they compete in the three-day Akron Invitational.
