Oct. 27, 2007

Box Score

OLEAN, N.Y. - Shannon Rengers' goal in the 31st minute was all the Duquesne women's soccer team needed Saturday afternoon as they got by St. Bonaventure 1-0.

Kelly Reed set up Rengers for her fifth goal of the season - and third game-winner - with a cross pass that was header past Bonnies keeper Amanda Prestigiacomo.

The Dukes' defense shut down St. Bona holding them to only eight shots, while keeper Gabby Morrin made three saves for her fifth shutout of the season.

Duquesne (10-5-0, 7-2-0) has won four straight matches - all without yielding a goal - and seven of their last eight. The win leaps the Dukes over Dayton and Saint Louis into sole possession of second place in the Atlantic 10 Conference with 21 points.

The Dukes conclude the regular season next weekend with home matches against Fordham Nov. 2 and La Salle Nov. 4. Match times are 4:00 p.m. and noon respectively.

Notes

The Dukes posting four consecutive shutouts is also a program record. The previous was three matches done on three occasions.

Morrin's fifth shutout is the second most in a single-season. Kelly O'Neill posted seven in 1996 and 1998.

The 2005 squad posted a 10-6-1 overall record. Today's victory ties the program mark for wins in a season.

Duquesne improves to 8-3-0 all-time against St. Bonaventure
