Duquesne's women's swimming team captured its first win of the season, with a 117-88 triumph over visiting Marshall Saturday afternoon at Towers Pool.
The Dukes trailed 32-23 after three races, but finished 1-2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle to take a 39-35 lead which they would not relinquish.
Senior Melissa Johnson and freshman Erin Sykes each captured two wins while junior Katrina Streiner won one race. Johnson took first in the 200-yard IM in 2:08.01 and in the 100-yard freestyle in 53.23. Sykes won both distance events, swimming the 1,000 in 10:28.69 and the 500 in 5:09.16. Streiner won the 50 in 24.40 while the 400 freestyle relay team also won.
The Dukes return to the water on Thursday as they travel to St. Francis (Pa.) for a 4:00 pm meet.
