Fairfax, VA - The Duquesne women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to American in the slightly revised D.C. Classic Saturday afternoon in Fairfax, VA. Sophomore Jenna Farneti (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) scored the Dukes' lone goal of the day from junior Audra Mathews (Cincinnati, Ohio/Saint Ursula Academy) in the 68th minute of play.

The match was slated for noon on Friday at host Georgetown before the remnants of Tropical Storm Ernesto forced the site to move to Virginia.

Farneti's score was the first of the match before American's Katelynn Donovan scored unassisted in the 75th minute for the 1-1 tie. American would score twice more in the final 15 minutes of play to take the win.

Senior keeper Ginny Bondi went the distance in goal recording eight saves while facing 19 shots. The Dukes were out-shot 19-7 for the match.

Duquesne (0-2-1) will face host Georgetown at 3:00 pm Sunday.
