Youngstown, Ohio - Duquesne suffered its second 3-2 fall of the day this time to the Falcons of Bowling Green at the Youngstown State Classic. Senior Amanda Haeg paced the Dukes with 21 kills and added 12 digs. Sophomore Mandy Humphrey added 14 kills hitting .500 (14-2-24) followed by 13 kills from junior Jenni Gross and freshman Jessica Artman. Gross also hit .500 (13-1-24) while Humphrey added a team-best six blocks in the loss. Sophomore Laura Kastein paced DU with 18 digs. Bowling Green was led by Kendra Halm's 18 kills and Madeline Mean's 24 digs.
BGSU took a 2-0 lead winning the first contest 30-17 followed by a 30-26 margin. Duquesne rallied for a 30-18 win in game three and took a 30-26 victory in game four before falling 15-5 in the fifth and deciding game of the match.
Bowling Green (8-2) held an 81-69 kill advantage and a 91-77 edge in digs. The Dukes (6-8) posted 10 team blocks to the Falcons' seven.
Freshman setter Chelsea Tillotson came into the match early for an injured Kristin Garnett and recorded 50 assists in the loss.
Duquesne resumes play Saturday morning facing Morehead State at 11:00 am and end the tournament vs. host Youngstown State at 7:00 pm.
