Winter Garden, Fla. - Duquesne University's men's golf team finished 12th at the 2006 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship at the Sunshine State's Orange County National Golf Center.
The Dukes completed the final round just two strokes higher than Saturday but that wasn't enough to forestall their slide from 10th to 12th in the 13-team event.
Senior Andrew Kwiatkowski (Apalachin, NY / Owego Free Academy) shot a three-over par 75 Sunday and tied for 35th place in the 65-athlete competition. Freshman Drew Ellis (Carnegie, PA / Carlynton), whose round of 74 paced the Red and Blue on the final day, tied for 39th.
Charlotte's 12-under par 276 on the par 72, 6,837-yard Panther Lake course, enabled the 49ers to hold onto the lead and gain the league title in their inaugural Atlantic 10 season. Charlotte's three-round total of 837 (15-under par) was three strokes ahead of Xavier, which had bettered Charlotte's Sunday mark of 276 with a 273. Both were the best scores in the three-day competition.
Two Musketeers tied for the individual title. John Streibich and Jason Kokrak completed the 54-hole competition with 10-under totals of 206.
