PITTSBURGH, PA - Freshman Jessica Artman led the Dukes and tied the match-lead with 12 kills, but it wasn't enough Duquesne (8-19, 2-7) suffered a 3-0 loss to Atlantic 10 leader Dayton (19-5, 9-0) Sunday afternoon at the A.J. Palumbo Center. Junior Dana McLaughlin led the match with 16 digs while junior Jenni Gross had a match-best three blocks. Artman hit an impressive .375 for the match making just three errors on 24 swings and hitting 12 kills. Amanda Haeg had two serviced aces and was second for the Dukes with 15 digs.

Dayton, which won its 10th-straight match, was led by Robynne Green and Jamie-Lee Richards with 12 kills each. Adrienne Green led the Flyers with 14 digs.

Dayton held a early 12-10 lead in game one before the Dukes go within a 13-12 reach, but the Flyers went on a 9-2 scoring drive to snag a 22-14 lead. The Dukes recorded four unanswered points late to get within a 28-24 lead, and trailed 29-26 before the Flyers won the game 30-26.

The Flyers controlled game two from the on-set grabbing a 13-3 lead. Duquesne would not get closer than a 20-13 reach as UD won the contest 30-16.

Dayton held a 13-8 edge in game three, but the Dukes battled hard and got within a 15-14 edge after a Laura Kastein ace. The Flyers upped their edge to a 20-17 margin, but Duquesne get the game to within a three-point reach until 4-1 Flyers drive upped their edge to 25-20. Dayton would win the game and match with a 30-23 decision.

Duquesne out-blocked (6-4) and out-dug (58-51) the Flyers, but Dayton held a 55-42 edge in kills. Dayton hit .328 (55-12-131) for the match while Duquesne hit .248 (42-14-113).

Duquesne will host West Virginia in their DIG FOR THE CURE match this Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 7:00 pm at the A.J. Palumbo Center. Donations collected per Duquesne dig, as well as general donations, will go to the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Fans are being asked to make at least a $1 donation for admittance to Wednesday's match.
