The Duquesne University wrestling team won the American division championship of the prestigious Virginia Duals, Jan. 14-15 in Hampton, VA. The fifth-seeded Dukes topped fourth-seeded Franklin & Marshall, 26-12 in the first round, defeated top-seeded South Dakota State, 28-15 in the semifinals and outlasted second-seeded SUNY-Brockport, 19-18 in the championship match.

Seniors Mark Himes and Keith Pavlekovsky both went 3-0 at the tournament as did juniors Brandon Baldini and Jared Ricotta.

The Red and Blue return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 18 as they host Washington and Jefferson in their home opener at 7:30 pm.
