Dukes Lose At St. Francis, 1-0, In Double Overtime

Loretto, Pa. - Duquesne University's women's soccer team lost Sunday's non-conference matchup at St. Francis by a 1-0 score in double overtime. The win raises the Red Flash's record to 6-4-1 while the Dukes are now 5-2-1.

Lauren Popovich scored from 14 yards out less then two minutes into the second extra period. Both teams had six shots on goal with Notre Dame transfer Randi Scheller (Kutztown, Pa. / Kutztown) hitting two of DU's half-dozen.

Virginia Bondi (Strongsville, Ohio / Strongsville) recorded four saves; DU's team was credited with one more. SFU's Melanie Stockman halted all six of DU's goal-bound balls.

Duquesne's Atlantic 10 home opener is this Friday, September 30, 2005, against Richmond at Rooney Field at 7:00 p.m.
