Nine Golds Pace Dukes Win Over Clarion

Results

Akron, Ohio - Duquesne Univerrsity's men's swimmimg team topped Clarion, 159-135, via nine first place finishes Saturday at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium. The Dukes are now 3-2 in the early season.

In addition to the team win in the 400 yard freestyle medley, Duquesne's other winnners were:

  • Sophomore Josh Barr (New Cumberland, PA / Cedar Cliff) in the 200 yard breastroke
  • Junior Scott Darwin (Springfield, VA / West Springfield) in the 200 yard backstroke as well as seconds in the 100 yard backstroke and the 50 yard freestyle
  • Junior Clayton Dean (Longwood, FL / Lake Brantley) in the 400 yard intermediate medley and second in the 500 yard freestyle
  • Senior Hugo Erse (Sao Paulo, Brazil / Colegio Benjamin Constant) in the 200 yard butterfly
  • Senior John Holleran (Allison Park, PA / North Allegheny) in the the 100 yard breaststroke
  • Freshman Chris Kobela (Allentown, PA / Salisbury Township) in the 500 yard freestyle; also finished second in the 1000 yard freestyle
  • Sophomore Jason Reinhard (Allentown, PA / Parkland) in the 100 yard backstroke and second in 200 yard backstroke
  • Sophomore Ian Walsh (Slatington, PA/Parkland) in the 200 yard freestyle and second in the 100 yard freestyle

The Dukes return to the road next weekend when they take on Saint Peter's on Friday, November 18, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. and then trek to the Bronx, N.Y. for Saturday matches against Fordham and Rhode Island.
