Baltimore, Md. - Junior Amanda Haeg (New Prague, Minn. / New Prague) totaled a match-high 11 kills to lead Duquesne's volleyball team a 3-0 (31-29, 30-16, 30-22) victory over Morgan State Saturday at the Bear's Hill Field House in the first meeting between the two schools.
Senior Diana Wuebker (St. Henry, Ohio / St. Henry) and freshman Mandy Humphrey (Lakeville, Ohio / West Holmes) each added nine kills apiece for the 14-10 Dukes.
Duquesne finished the match with 44 kills on 105 attempts for a .314 hitting percentage, while holding Morgan to .048 percent (31 kills on 124 attempts).
The Dukes, who capitalized on Morgan errors (25 for the game), used those opportunities to pull out a tough 31-29 win in the opening game. DU had a somewhat easier time in the next two contests, winning 30-16 amd 30-22.
Mandisa Richardson led Morgan State (11-18) with seven kills while Ashley Preston notched a match-high 19 digs.
The Dukes (14-10, 4-5) return to conference play when they host the Atlantic 10's Ohio teams this coming weekend. Duquesne matches up with Xavier (16-10, 8-3) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4th at the Palumbo Center and then hosts Dayton (17-9, 10-1) at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6.
