Apalachin, N.Y. - Duquesne University's golf team finished fifth in the 13-team Binghamtown University NBT Bank Collegiate Classic held Saturday and Sunday at The Links at Hiawatha Landing. The event was played in rain and chilly temperatures both days at the par-72, 6,866-yard course.
The Dukes tallied 611 (296-315), six strokes behind the fourth place host Bearcats (297-308:605).
This was a homecoming for senior Andy Kwiatkowski, an Apalachin native who prepped at nearby Owego Free Academy. The senior (76-75) and junior Derek Evans (72-79) paced the Dukes with seven over-par 151s, tying five other players in 11th place in the 75-player event.
Siena won the event with a two-round total of 587 (291-296), two ahead of St. Bonaventure (290-299:589). The Saints' Robby Bigley won the individual crown with a three under-par 141 (69-72).
