Avon, Ohio - Duquesne University's golf team dropped 14 strokes from Friday's first round score to move up and finish in sixth place at the rain-shortened Cleveland State Invitational at Red Tail Golf Club on Saturday.
Senior Steve Seiden (Media, PA / Strath Haven) had a par 72 round, the second best score at this 2-day, 36 hole event. Canisius' Rob Krajewski, who took the individual title, had a one-under par 71 in the opening round on Friday.
Junior Tom Hungerford (Medina, NY / Medina) paced the Dukes, finishing in a 20th place tie with a two-round score of 159 (78-81).
Oakland University, which placed all five golfers in the top ten, took the team title. Inclement weather on Friday forced the tournament to be shortened to 36 holes from the originally slated 54.
The Dukes return to action next weekend when they will compete in the Lafayette Invitational at Center Valley Club in Center Valley, Pa. on Friday and Saturday, April 9-10, 2004.
