St. Louis, Missouri - Both Duquesne University wrestlers were eliminated from the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships Thursday at the Savvis Center in St. Louis.
Senior Mike Frank (Pittsburgh, PA / Fox Chapel), in his first ever trip to the national competition, was defeated by Illinois' Brian Glynn 12-1 in a 184 pound first round match. Kurt Backes of Iowa State pinned Frank at 3:56 to move on in the consolation bracket. Frank completes the season with a 20-17 record.
Junior Marc Allemang (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) lost to number 11 seed Dusty Hoffschneider of Wyoming 8-6 in the heavyweight class. In the consolation round, Oregon State's Jamie Rakevich topped the junior 10-5. Allemang, who also made the nationals as a sophomore, completes the current season with 30-4 mark. He also was named this year's East Regional "Outstanding Wrestler."
