Senior Sean Flanigan (Erie, PA / McDowell) was named the Atlantic 10's Golf Performer of the Week for his play this past weekend at the Drew Upton Tiger Golf Classic hosted by Towson University. Flanigan led the Red and Blue to a third place finish among 20 teams and finished third overall out of 106 golfers with a score of 78-76-154 at the Great Hope Golf Club on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
This was the Dukes' opening competition of the spring season after taking a spring trip to Pinehurst, North Carolina from Feb. 28 through Mar. 8. This weekend's competition was not played in spring weather, though, as high winds gusting to 40 mph, on and off rain and lightning delayed the completion of Saturday's opening round. Then Sunday's rounds were played in unseasonably cold temperatures with snow moving in through the northeast.
The Dukes return to the links on April 7-8 as they host the Duquesne / Robert Morris Invitational at Diamond Run Country Club in Sewickley. Tee times begin at 10:00 am on Monday and a shot gun start is scheduled for 9:30 am on Tuesday.
