Dukes Top Host Davidson, 37-12

Durham, North Carolina - Duquesne's wrestling team grabbed a 37-12 victory over Davidson (1-9) Friday night in the first of three meets this weekend in North Carolina. The win raised the Red and Blue's season record to 6-6.

Sophomore Marc Allemang (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) extended his team-leading record with a pin over Davidson's John Pollak at 0:48 in the heavyweight competition. Allemang, whose career mark is 47-16, raised his season record to 26-7 with a 9-1 record in dual meets.

Fellow sophomore Jon Denk [149] (Oakdale, PA / West Allegheny) and freshman Robert Dempsey [157] (Philadelphia, PA / Northeast Catholic) also grabbed wins by decisions over their Wildcat opponents. The Dukes were awarded forfeits in four other weight classes to take the 37-12 victory.

Duquesne takes on the Maryland Terrapins (4-5) and the Duke Blue Devils (6-7) Saturday starting at 2:30 p.m. at Duke's Cameroon Indoor Stadium.

A top match comes at 165-pounds when Duquesne's Bill Boeh (Pittsburgh, PA / North Allegheny) faces Duke's Michael Mitchell. Both wrestlers enter the weekend at 24-9 and are vying for a spot in the top-20 of the national rankings.
