Another .500 Weekend For Women's Soccer

Kingston, R.I. - Duquesne University's women's soccer team concluded another .500 weekend with a 4-0 shutout at the hands of the Rhode Island Rams at the URI Soccer Complex. The Rams were led by Megan and Melanie Kasparek who each scored two goals, with Melanie assisting on both of Megan's goals and Megan providing the assist on one of Melanie's tallies.

The loss drops the Dukes to 8-8-2, 4-4-1 in A-10 play while URI is now 7-7-2 and 5-3-1 in the league. Rhode Island outshot the Dukes 19-4 with Rachel Gecik recording three saves in 32 minutes and Virginia Bondi, five blocks in 58 minutes. Katie Schwager had two of the Dukes' three shots on goal.

Duquesne returns home next weekend when they will conclude the regular season schedule against Dayton (11-5-1, 7-2-0 A-10), Friday at 7:00 p.m. and then will play Xavier (9-7-1, 5-4-0 A-10) at 2:00 p.m. Sunday on Seniors Day. Both games will be played at Rooney Field on DU's campus.
