Duquesne University freshman Hugo Erse (Sao Paulo, Brazil/ Colegio Benjamin Constant) was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming Co-Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office.
Erse set a school record in winning the 1,000-yard freestyle event in 9:58.46 in Friday's loss to West Virginia. His time surpassed the previous University mark of 9:59.37 set by Giles Reese in February of 1996 and was three seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Erse also won the 500-yard freestyle event in 4:52.46.
The Dukes return to action on Saturday, Jan. 18 as they travel to Cleveland, OH to face host Cleveland State and Xavier at 1:00 pm.
