DAYTON, OHIO -- - Duquesne's volleyball team lost the A10 opener to Dayton Friday night by a 3-0 score at the Flyers' Frericks Center. Sophomore Ashley Macko (Pittsburgh, Pa. / South Park) and junior Jacqui Gerlach (St. Henry, Ohio / St. Henry) led the Dukes with nine kills each.
Dayton (12-3, 1-0 A10) was able to squeeze out a 30-28 win in the opening game. The Flyers then topped DU by identical 30-23 scores in games two and three. The Flyers were led by Susan Westbrock with 14 kills and Carrie Snider with nine digs.
Gerlach and junior Sarah Morrow (Baytown, Texas / Robert E. Lee) each had 14 digs and junior Sarah Brown (Glen Rock, Pa. / Susquehannock) paced the offense with 36 assists.
The Dukes (10-6, 0-1 A10) continue their Ohio-trek on Sunday when they take on the Xavier Musketeers (10-5, 1-0 A10) at 2:00 p.m at the Cintas Center.
