The men's swimming team finished eighth at the 2002 Verizon Atlantic 10 Swimming Championship.

Two Dukes used their preliminary times to qualify for the finals. Senior Jonathan Pearce (left) swam a season-best time of 2:10.31 in the 200 breaststroke and finished seventh while junior Sean Evans turned in a season-best time of 2:02.25 in the 200 butterfly and placed 16th.
