Ninth year baseball coach Mike Wilson announced today the signing to national letters of intent of four baseball players who will play for Duquesne next season. Adam Haun (Polk, PA/Franklin), Phil Godlewski (Taylor, PA/Riverside), Gavin Church (Corbin, KY/Corbin) and Corey Bugno (Dalton, PA/Abington Heights) are the newest Dukes.
Haun is a three-time TCAC All-Conference pitcher and infielder for Franklin High's District 10 Runner-up team. Haun, who is also a three-time All-Conference golfer, has compiled a perfect 25-0 pitching record while at Franklin.
Godlewski played for three-time district champion Riverside, which compiled a 19-1 record in 2001. Last year, he managed an 8-0 pitching record while leading his team in batting at .450. He was named First Team All-League at pitcher and first base as a result.
Church is a three-time letterman and is a team captain this year. He batted .405 with three home runs and eight doubles while going 5-1 with a 2.68 ERA on the mound. His team, which are three-time district champions is currently 20-6 and ranked 10th in the state.
Bugno is a three-year letterman in baseball and a two-year football letterman. An outfielder, he is currently leading the Lackawanna League with a .500 batting average. He was a Keystone Games team captain, a high school team captain and an American Legion All Star.
The foursome will join fellow newcomers Scott Chisholm, Stephen Maiolo and Travis Rife who signed with the Dukes during the early signing period in November.
