Duquesne Men Top Niagara

Duquesne men's and women's swimming swept visiting Niagara this afternoon in a non-conference meet at Towers Pool. The women took a 112-85 decision while the men edged out the Purple Eagles with a 102-101 margin.

The Duquesne women captured first place in all but one event while the men posted five first place showing and finished second in four.

Three Dukes posted two top finishes to lead the Red & Blue women as Sarah Breisinger , Deidre Rodeheaver and Erin McEvoy helped the 200 medley relay take first while Breisinger took first in the 200 IM, Rodeheaver in 50 free and MeEvoy in the 200 butterfly.

Freshman Hugo Erse led the men placing first in three events winning the 1650 freestyle, the 500 free and as a member of the 200 medley relay. John Holleran placed first twice as he was a member of the 200 MR and he touch first in the 200 individual medley.

Niagara's Traci Liberi won the 100 free edging out Duquesne's Kathy Smucler. The Dukes' swam exhibition in their final three events (500 free, 200 breaststroke, 200 free relay). The Niagara men captured win in the 200, 100 and 50 free as well as the 200 back, 200 breast and 200 free relay.

The women improved to 2-1 overall while the men upped their record to 1-1.
