Miamisburg, Ohio – The Duquesne University women's tennis team opened Atlantic 10 play on Friday morning, dropping a 4-3 decision at Dayton inside the South Regency Tennis Center. With the loss, the Dukes fall to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in conference action.

Duquesne claimed the doubles point with a clean sweep of all three matches. The tandem of sophomore Naomi Lalonde and junior Mila Badics earned a 6-4 win at the top spot over Natalie Osiecki and Montserrat Sierra, while seniors Taisia Yakunina and Alexandra O'Brien matched that score at No. 2 doubles against Mallory Hitchcock and Baby Jordan. Senior Jasa Roka and sophomore Denisse Arinez Guilarte sealed doubles play in dominant fashion with a 6-0 victory over Haley Klein and Grace Murphy.

In singles action, Badics rallied for a three-set win at the top spot, bouncing back for a 3-6, 7-5, 10-6 triumph over Osiecki. Lalonde also battled back after dropping the opening set to secure a 3-6, 7-6, 10-4 victory at No. 2 over Jordan but Dayton answered with four singles wins to clinch the match, including straight-set victories at Nos. 4 and 6 and a pair of three-set decisions at Nos. 3 and 5. O'Brien fell to Sierra, 3-6, 6-2, 3-6 while Roka dropped a 1-6, 0-6 decision to Chin. Arinez Guilarte fell to Hitchcock, 6-4, 1-6, 1-6 before Yakunina lost to Klein, 3-6. 3-6.

Duquesne returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 14 when it travels to Morgantown, W.Va., to battle West Virginia, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
