Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University women's tennis team opened its home schedule on Friday evening, capturing a 5-2 victory over Colgate, inside the Oxford Athletic Club. With the win, the Dukes improved to 1-1 overall this season.
Duquesne opened competition by sweeping all three doubles matches and earning the early point. Senior

Taisia Yakunina downed Rebecca Hess and Avery Isaac, 7-5.
In singles play, the Dukes continued with momentum, capturing four of the six matches to secure the win. At the second position, Naomi took down Motero, 6-1, 6-3 before Roka secured a 6-3, 6-3 win over Kunar at fourth singles. At the fifth slot, junior
Sofia Serrano recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win over Carina Cristobal before Yakunina collected a 6-2, 4-6, 10-2 victory over Anson Silverfield.
