Nagy Tabbed Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week

Senior goalkeeper earns accolade after clean sheet in win at Xavier

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Senior goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy of the Duquesne University men's soccer team was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday.

In helping the Dukes improve to 3-0 for the second time in the last three years, Nagy registered his first clean sheet of the 2024 season and third of his career on the Bluff as Duquesne picked up its first road win of the campaign with a 1-0 triumph at Xavier.

Nagy, a native of Lakewood, Ohio, finished with six saves in the victory, helping knock off a Xavier squad that was coming off a 2-0 win over No. 2 Marshall in its previous match.

Thanks to the performance against the Musketeers, Nagy lowered his goals against average for the 2024 season to 0.80, which ranks third in the Atlantic 10. He also sits second in the A-10 in save percentage (.833) and sixth in saves per game (3.33).

In 21 career games for the Dukes, each as the starting goalkeeper, Nagy has amassed a record of 10-7-3 (.575) to go along with a .778 save percentage and a 1.37 goals against average. He is two saves shy of 100 for his career at Duquesne.

Led by head coach Chase Brooks, Duquesne sits second in the Atlantic 10 in scoring margin (1.66) thanks to a defense that has yielded just two goals in three games, which is tied for second in the conference with Massachusetts.

The Dukes return to Rooney Field to continue their 2024 season Thursday, Sept. 5, with a 7:00 p.m. match against Niagara.
