PITTSBURGH -- The Duquesne University football team finished its spring practice schedule with its annual Spring Game on Saturday at Rooney Field.
Team Smith prevailed with a 15-14 victory over Team Jacobs.
Tedy Afful caught an eight-yard touchdown pass from
Darius Perrantes to make it 14-13 with 37 seconds left in the game, then a Perrantes to
Tyler Padezan connection on the ensuing two-point conversion secured the win.
Taj Butts got the scoring started with a rushing touchdown on Team Smith's first possession after
Antonio Epps picked off Team Jacobs on the opening drive and ran it back 70 yards to the Jacobs four yard line.
Team Jacobs bounced back with back-to-back touchdown drives to take the lead, 14-7, with 8:30 to play, but could not hold on. A 12-yard reception by
Alex Gochis from
Xavier Rice and a 32-yard run by
Antonio Pitts accounted for the scores, while
Kevin O'Donnell snagged an interception for Team Jacobs between the scoring drives.
