NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Duquesne's
Sidney O'Donnell and
Amy Read have been named to the Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming and Diving All-Academic Team, announced by the conference office today.
O'Donnell makes it back-to-back honors on the A-10 All-Academic Team. She has been a finalist each of the past four seasons in the 1M and 3M dives at the A-10 Championships. This year, the Solon, Ohio native placed fourth in the 3M scoring a 270.30, and seventh in the 1M with a 260.35. O'Donnell was one of four Dukes to be named CSC Academic All-District this season and was a CSCAA Scholar All-American in 2020. In the classroom, O'Donnell owns a 3.97 GPA while pursuing a nursing degree.
Read joined the Dukes as a graduate transfer this season and has made an immediate impact. She qualified for her fifth consecutive NCAA National Championships and was named the A-10 Diver of the Year in her first season dawning the Red and Blue. The A-10 All-Academic honor adds to her already stacked academic awards case, including a CSC Academic All-District selection this year, along with four Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll, a CSCAA Scholar All-American First Team and All-ACC Academic Team honors while at Pitt. Read holds a perfect 4.00 GPA while pursuing an M.A. in communication.
The Academic All-Conference team includes student-athletes who were selected based on their athletic and academic performance. To be nominated, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career. The teams were selected through a vote conducted by the league's communications directors.
