FAIRFAX, Va. - The Duquesne lacrosse team dropped a 14-6 decision to host George Mason on Sunday afternoon in an Atlantic 10 contest. The Dukes fall to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in A-10 play while the Patriots improve to 9-3 and 3-1, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Dukes took an early 2-0 lead with goals from senior attacker Jill Vacanti (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) and freshman midfielder Carlee Braverman (Laurel, N.J./Lenape).

- George Mason answered with eight straight goals to gain an 8-2 advantage with 5:20 to play in the first half.

- DU ended the run with two consecutive goals to close the opening period from sophomore midfielder Maddie Hart (Sykesville, Md./Century) and junior attacker Haley Matthai (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright). This minimized the Patriots' lead to 8-4 at the half.

- George Mason came out of the locker room and netted three straight goals en route to outscoring the Dukes 6-2 in the second half to seal the A-10 win.

KEY STATS
- With two goals on Sunday, Vacanti now has eight multi-goal games this season. She leads the Dukes with 25 goals on the year. Matthai also recorded a pair of goals and now has 15 on the season.

- Connolly tallied a career-high three assists for Duquesne. She leads the team with 12 assists in her debut season.

NEXT UP
The Dukes travel to Philadelphia next week for a pair of A-10 contests at La Salle on Friday, April 13 at 7 p.m. and St. Joseph's on Sunday, April 15 at 1 p.m.
