@DuqMSoccer Announces 2018 Recruiting Class

PITTSBURGH - Head coach Chase Brooks officially announced Duquesne's 2018 recruiting class on Wednesday. The group of seven includes six freshman as well as in incoming transfer from the University of Pittsburgh.

Chase Brooks on the 2018 class: "During our 2018 recruiting process we placed an emphasis on character and players that want to push for team objectives. I am quite happy with the group of guys that we have signed so far as each understands who we are and where we are going as a program. Certainly, they are good soccer players but more importantly; they are all good people that will help us push our program forward."

Alec Anselmo
Jr. â- 5-10, 150 â- Midfielder
Charlotte, N.C./Independence (Pitt transfer)

  • Early signee, currently participating in spring training at DU
  • First-year Pitt transfer played in 30 matches with 16 starts in two seasons with the Panthers
  • Was a varsity letterman as a high school freshman before spending his final three seasons with Carolina Rapids US Development
  • First Team North Carolina Olympic Development/State Select Program
  • Was a four-time invitee to the US Market Training Centers
  • Rated a 4-star recruit by Top Drawer Soccer

Head coach Chase Brooks: "Alec is a hardworking, high character young man. He has had a great soccer education and we are excited about the experience he brings to our squad. Having him here this spring is already paying dividends on and off the field."

  • Part of a back-to-back Ontario Cup championship teams in 2015 & 2016 with the Woodbridge Strikers
  • Captained Sigma FC U20 team to a league title and cup championship
  • Also appeared for Sigma 2 (U23) and League 1 Ontario Men's Side in 2017

He has a good blend of size, technique and decision making that will lend itself well to our level of play. He is a local guy that we are looking forward to helping reach the next level of his game."
