2009 NCAA East Regional Brackets
Junior Billy Chamberlain won the 125-pound weight class at the NCAA East Regional Championship at Gardner-Webb on Saturday and earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Championships beginning March 19 in St. Louis, Mo.
Chamberlain, the top seed in his bracket, earned a bye in the first round, defeated 4th-seeded Cortney Roberts of Gardner-Webb, 5-1 in the semifinals and topped 3rd-seeded John Andel of Millersville, 11-6 in championship bout. It marks the 17th straight year that Duquesne has sent at least one wrestler to nationals.
Junior Jayk Cobbs finished second at 141 pounds, freshman Joshua Pascazi placed third at 149 pounds, junior Ryan Sula finished third at 174 pounds and sophomore Matt Gregg was fourth at 165 pounds.
The Dukes as a team finished in sixth place of seven teams.
