Men's basketball coach Danny Nee has announced that seniors Martin Osimani and Tyler Bluemling along with junior Bryant McAllister will serve as team tri-captains this season.
Osimani, who enters the year as the nation's 12th-leading returning assist man, is in his second season with the Dukes following his transfer from Miami-Dade Community College. He was named the "Top Playmaker" in the Atlantic 10 by both Lindy's and the Sporting News college basketball preseason magazines.
Bluemling, a Mt. Lebanon, Pa. native, has played in 68 games in his first three seasons at DU. His 68 games played ranks second only to Jon Pawlak's 69 among returning players.
McAllister, DU's top returning scorer (11.1 ppg. last season), will be entering his third season as a starter. The West Mifflin, Pa. native leads all retunees with 551 career points. He was named preseason Third Team All-Atlantic 10 by Lindy's preseason magazine.
In additional news, Nee announced that he plans to redshirt freshman forward Brian Kelly this season. Kelly, who plans to major in pharmacy, attended Columbia High School in Decatur, Ga. - the same school as fellow freshman DeVario Hudson.
