Damien Pottinger Begins MISL Play

Former Duquesne University soccer standout Damien Pottinger (2000-03) has just begun his second season of professional soccer as a member of the Philadelphia Kixx of the Major Indoor Soccer League. The Kixx opened the season Saturday with an 11-8 win over the Cleveland Force.

Pottinger, who was chosen in December, 2003 by the Edmonton Aviators in the 2004 A-League College Draft, was also chosen by the Philadelphia Kixx as the eighth pick in the territorial round of the 2004-05 MISL Amateur Draft on Feb. 27. Most recently he completed a season playing for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the Pro Soccer League, scoring four points (one goal, two assists) in seven games.

Pottinger led the Dukes in goals and points as a junior and senior and is the University's all-time leading scorer with 38 career goals and 89 career points. The 2003 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and Regional All-American, he led the conference in points per game (1.61) as a senior and was tied for the league-lead in goals and points. A two-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, he scored at least one goal in nine of 17 games played as a senior, including a career-best four in a 5-0 win versus Saint Joseph's.
