Lewisburg, Pa. – The Duquesne University men's tennis team traveled to Lewisburg, Pa. to battle Bucknell in a non-conference match, falling 6-1 inside the Central PA Tennis Center. With the loss, the Dukes fall to 3-5 overall.
Duquesne battled throughout the lineup, highlighted by a gritty singles victory from junior
Austin Lai, but the Bison secured the doubles point and claimed five of six singles matches to earn the team win.
The Dukes split the three doubles matches. Sophomores
Enrique Lana and
Aril Kayra Tuna earned a strong 6-4 win at second doubles, but Bucknell captured victories at No. 1 and No. 3 to take the early 1-0 advantage.
Lai provided the bright spot for Duquesne at No. 4 singles. After dropping the opening set, he responded with a 6-4 second-set win and closed out the match in a 10-7 super tiebreak to secure the Dukes' lone point of the afternoon. Several other matches featured tight sets and competitive stretches. At No. 1, Lana pushed his match to the brink, falling 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 in a closely contested battle. Sophomore
Teo Papadopoulos also forced a first-set tiebreak at No. 6 before Bucknell pulled away in the second set.

The Dukes return to action on Sunday, March 1, when they travel to Lafayette to close out its three-match road swing.
