Wexford, Pa. – The Duquesne University men's tennis team earned a 7-0 sweep over Niagara on Friday evening inside the Oxford Athletic Club while celebrating Senior Day. With the win, the Dukes improved to 3-3 overall this season.

Duquesne jumped out to an early lead by securing the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. At the top spot, sophomores Enrique Lana and Aril Kayra Tuna controlled play throughout in a 6-2 win over Ary Bhawan and Damian Janiszewski. The No. 3 pairing of senior Alfrendo Vogelaar and sophomore Tancredi Alfano followed with a 6-3 victory to clinch the point over Shravan Somasi and Ekansh Shukla . The No. 2 match featuring sophomores Arnau Anton Garcia and Uvan Patel was left unfinished at 4-5.

Carrying momentum into singles, the Dukes won all six matches in convincing fashion. Lana set the pace at the top spot with a steady 6-2, 6-2 win over Janiszewski. Tuna battled back after dropping the first set to secure a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 2 over Bhawan. Vogelaar delivered the clincher in a tightly contested three-set match at the number three spot, prevailing 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5) over Logan Wong. Alfano was dominant at the four spot, 6-3, 6-0 decision over Sarosh Rustomjee while sophomroe Teo Papadopoulos added a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5 and senior Pierce Manning capped the afternoon with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at the last spot over Shravan Somasi.
