South Bend, Ind. – The Duquesne University men's tennis team opened its 2026 season on Monday, dropping a pair of matches in South Bend. The Dukes fell to the host Notre Dame, 6-1 before dropping a 5-0 match to Western Michigan.

Notre Dame captured the doubles point after taking victories at the second and third slots. Sophomores

Aril Kayra Tuna fell to Noah Becker and Sebastian Dominko, 6-0 before classmates
Uvan Patel and
Tancredi Alfano fell 6-1 to Nolan Balthazor and Nicholas Patrick.
During singles play, the Fighting Irish took five of six matches to capture the victory. At the top spot, Lana dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Perry Gregg before Lai fell to Giuseppe Cerasuolo, 6-3, 6-1. At third singles, Tuna fell to Kyran Magimay 6-2, 6-3 while Vogelaar lost to Patrick, 7-5, 6-2. In the final two spots, Tancredi was defeated by Balthazor, 6-1, 6-1 at the fifth slot before sophomore
Teo Papadopoulos on by defeat at the final spot.
