PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne University lacrosse team has announced the addition of 10 newcomers to its roster for the upcoming 2025 season.
"It has been such a pleasure getting to know this year's incoming class. Although I didn't have the opportunity to recruit them, it has already been a rewarding experience working with individuals who fit in perfectly at Duquesne," said first-year head coach Tracy Coyne. "As lacrosse players, they bring a contagious energy and passion for the game to practice every day which has helped create a very competitive atmosphere."
The class includes nine freshmen (Kelsea Cooke, Averi Foster, Abigail Krogmann, Megan Marco, Mia Piocquidio, Morgan Raines, Addison Scanlon, Korrigan Sweeney and Virginia Vance) along with one transfer (Cameron Counts).
Four midfielders, three defenders, two attackers and one goalkeeper make up the class, which hails from six different states - Pennsylvania (4), Virginia (2), Ohio (1), Florida (1), New Jersey (1) and Maryland (1).
The talented group features two all-state selections and nine that were named all-conference or all-section during their prep careers. Two high school state champions join the Dukes, while four of the ten played in a high school state final.
Off the field, Duquesne welcomes five National Honor Society inductees and two players that founded Morgan's Message chapters at their respective schools.
"One highlight has been the play of senior transfer, Cameron Counts. Cameron's experience, lacrosse IQ and work ethic has allowed her to make an immediate impact on the defensive unit," added Coyne. "It will be exciting to see how this class contributes to our success in 2025. I am confident that as we continue to grow together as a team, it will lead to building the championship mindset necessary to win in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Our team goal is to compete for an A-10 championship, and I know the newcomers will be instrumental in making that goal a reality."
