Pittsburgh, Pa. – Freshman
Lexi Sundgren of the Duquesne University swimming & diving team was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week it was announced Wednesday.
At the Richmond Duals to open the 2023-24 season, Sundgren earned gold in the 200-yard freestyle against both
George Mason (10/13) and
Davidson (10/14) in her NCAA Division I debut. Against the Patriots, Sundgren closed with a time of 1:54.54 before earning gold in the same event against the Wildcats by touching the wall at 1:55.19.
Sundgren also earned silver in the 50, 100 and 500-yard freestyle over the course of the two competitions. Against George Mason she recorded a time of 24.53 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and clocked in at 5:14.21 in the 500 before finishing second in the 100-yard freestyle (53.45) against Davidson. As a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay in the season opener against the Patriots, Sundgren swam the second leg and helped the Dukes finish second with a time of 3:33.62.

David Sheets, Duquesne continues its 2023-24 season by traveling to Fairfax, Va., to compete in the George Mason Invite Friday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Oct. 28.
