Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne University women's tennis team kicked off its spring season with a 6-1 win over Mount St. Mary's at the Alpha Tennis Center & Fitness Center Friday afternoon.
The team closed out the weekend with a 5-2 setback at Cleveland State Sunday.

The Dukes claimed the doubles point by winning two out of three and collected five singles wins to secure the season-opening victory.

The team of
Meredith Lee and
Priyanka Mitta claimed No. 2 doubles (6-3), while the tandem of
Daniela Latoni and
Natasha Novak took No. 3 doubles (6-4).

Lee, Novak and Latoni each won their singles matches in straight sets. Lee won at No. 4 singles (6-3, 6-3), Novak at No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-1) and Latoni at No. 6 singles (6-3, 6-0).

Margot Pessy posted a victory at No. 1 singles for the Dukes. She defeated Mount St. Mary's Amber Policare 7-5, 6-1 to help Duquesne open the season with a team win.
Cleveland State took two of three in doubles play and four out of six in singles play to defeat Duquesne.
Novak earned a hard-fought 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (13-11) win at No. 4 singles over Selma Tounsi. Ana Ultrilla Benito picked up the team's other point with a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) win at No. 2 singles.
Duquesne will return to the courts on Friday, Feb. 11 when it travels to take on Toledo around 1 p.m.
