The Duquesne University men's track and field team placed fourth at the Atlantic 10 Championship. The Dukes finished with a two-day team score of 106 points.
Sophomore Gary Malinko (Old Forge, PA / Scranton Prep) captured silver medals in the 800 and 1,500 meter runs breaking his own school mark of 1:54.39 in the 800 with a time of 1:53.52. Junior Chuck Mohan (Monroeville, PA / Gateway) grabbed the bronze in both the discus and the shot put.
Freshman Lurchin Lee (Pittsburgh, PA / Peabody) set two new school records. He topped his 110 meter high hurdles time of 16.17 set earlier this year at the UVA Lou Onesty Invitational with a time of 15.79 (2.4 wind) in the preliminaries and 15.58 (3.0 wind) in the finals. Lurchin set a new record in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 55.32. Another frosh Mike Murawski (Cinnaminson, NJ / Holy Cross) also took topped the old school mark of 56.41 that Aaron Panigall set in 2002 with a time of 55.75.
The Dukes competited in 17 of the 22 events; no DU athletes participated in the 100 meter dash, the 400 meters, the long and triple jumps and the decathlon.
