Shannon Taub enters her fourth season as an assistant coach at Duquesne and oversees the jumpers, multis, and throws programs.

Taub joined the staff as an assistant coach in August 2020, after competing for the Duquesne track and field team from 2015-2020. In her first three years, she has guided athletes to become Atlantic 10 champions, Atlantic 10 medalist, school record holders, and top-five all-time performers.

During the 2022-2023 season, Taub’s group combined for two school records, and 14 all-time top-five performances. Freshman Madelyn Moretti threw 14.48m to shatter the school record in the shot put, a record that stood for 13 years. Emily Brozeski won the gold medal and scored 5172 points in the heptathlon at the A-10 Championships to break her own school record, accomplished the season prior. At both the Atlantic 10 Indoor and Outdoor Championships, Taub’s groups combined for multiple point scorers, including two gold medal performances by Brozeski in the pentathlon (indoor) and heptathlon (outdoor).

In 2021-2022, Taub coached Logan Williamson and Emily Brozeski each to their first A-10 gold medals. Williamson jumped 15.01m in the triple jump to solidify the top spot, while Brozeski scored 5,122 in the heptathlon to win gold and break the school record that stood since 2014. Taub’s group also combined for 6 all-time top-five performances throughout the year and had four medalists in the jumps and multi (men’s triple jump and women’s pentathlon and heptathlon) at the A-10 Championships.

Taub’s first season on staff (2020-21) was impacted due to COVID-19, as the Dukes only competed in outdoor meets. Taub oversaw several student athletes who were able to set new highs, including Tyler Bishop who threw 16.71m, breaking the shot put school record that stood since 2006 by over half a meter. At the conference meet Taub’s group collected five podium finishes in the men and women’s triple jump, men’s shot put, and women’s heptathlon.

A five-year competitor for the Dukes, Taub set the school record in the women’s pentathlon and charted top-five performances in six different events. She was honored as the Field Performer of the Meet at the A-10 Indoor Championships in 2019.
