Dr. Justin DiSanti

Justin DiSanti joined the Department of Health, Exercise, & Applied Sciences as an Assistant Professor in the spring of 2022. A native of the Pittsburgh area, he graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Kinesiology, before earning his Master’s degree at Miami University & Ph.D. at Michigan State University, specializing in psychosocial aspects of sport performance and sport injuries.

As a practicing mental performance consultant of over 12 years, Justin works with athletes and performers across a variety of sport and practical settings, aiming to help his clients to thrive both on and off of the field through developing their personalized mental performance skills and mental health promotion strategies. In addition to working with athletes, Justin has also consulted with sports medicine practitioners and administrators to aid in their own ability to promote peak performance – both with their patients, and well as themselves. Through this interdisciplinary approach, his work supports a cohesive and evidence-based culture of promoting mental performance and wellness.

In addition to his consulting work, Justin also is a professor in the Rangos School of Health Sciences, teaching such classes as motor learning and performance, psychosocial aspects of healthcare, and research methods. He also serves as the Research Coordinator for the Health Sciences program, while leading and publishing multiple research studies in relation to topics such as psychosocial aspects of injury, sport specialization, and life skill development – all elements that inform his work as a consultant.
