Duquesne's men's basketball team came off a 10-day layoff for final exams with a 61-56 victory over Youngstown State on Wednesday. The Dukes will leave the 50 States for the first time in school history to compete in the San Juan Shootout on Dec. 20-22. The Shootout is the first leg of a 10-day Christmas holiday road trip that includes the Florida International New Year's Classic at Miami, Florida on Fri. & Sat., Dec. 27-28.
Meanwhile the 6-1 women's team, which for the second week received votes in the top 25 polls, takes a shorter journey to Morgantown, West Virginia for a Sat. Dec. 21 game versus the Mountaineers at 7 pm. After Christmas, DU heads to Blacksburg, Virginia for Virginia Tech's two-game tournament beginning Saturday, Dec. 28.
